Visit the ancient monastic site of Inis Cealtra (Holy Island), enjoy the colours and craftsmanship of Caherhurley Nursery, explore the historic twin towns of Killaloe and Ballina and savour a relaxing dinner overlooking the Shannon.
The day concludes with a drive by the poignant graves of the Leinster Men at Portroe before returning to Shinrone.
Meet at Shinrone Community Centre Car Park at 7.50, depart 8.00 sharp. Arrive Mountshannon harbour for a 20 min sailing and tour to Holy Island at 10.00. On arrival back to mainland at 11.30, visit The Iniscealtra Visitor Centre and enjoy a light lunch.
Arrive Caherhurley Nursery approximately 14.00 where there is an opportunity to learn how Gert and Elisabeth Stam started this specialist plant nursery. Opportunity to purchase plants. Arrive Killaloe for a private tour of St. Flannan’s Cathedral and surrounding area.
Dinner in Killaloe approx 17.00 (to be decided and at your own expense) Travelling home via The Graves of the Leinster Men and stunning views of Lough Derg, arrive Shinrone approximately 20.00
